Birth rights
I don’t really know if people claim birth rights anymore. I mean it sounds like something someone in pantaloons and a poofy blouse would say. But I think it’s still a thing. Especially in the current climate in the U.S. there is a lot of talk if not directly, indirectly about what a birth right is. This includes the proposed legal perspective but also a cultural and social perspective. For the most part I think birth rights are stupid. Just because you were lucky or unlucky enough to be born into some situation you have certain inalienable rights that someone else isn’t able to have…aren’t we all God’s children. Sounds colonialist. Sorry folks, it is most useful in the hands of oppressors. For a person in my situation, I have a hard time claiming any “birth rights.” I cannot claim any from my nationality, I was not born a U.S. citizen and according to many that means I will never be a true American.
